Botulinum Toxin (Botox)

Procedure:

Injection of precise amounts of botulinum toxin in the face muscles where there are wrinkles, temporarily paralyzing these muscles.

Duration:

a few minutes.

Anesthesia:

topical, with anesthetic cream

Hospital admission:

It is not necessary.

Side effects:

swelling, pain and redness on treated areas. Inconspicuous signs of needle puncture.

Risks:

small bruises, asymmetries needing a complementary application, temporary eyelid drooping (rare).

Recovery:

immediate return to normal activities.

Results:

temporary (4 to 6 months), needing new maintenance sessions.
