Procedure:
reduces breast size by removing skin, fat and glandular tissue. In Mastopexy the breast is lifted through fatty and glandular tissue remodeling with possible removal of skin.
Duration:
2 to 4 hours.
Anesthesia:
epidural with sedation or general in some cases.
Hospital admission:
Discharge usually on the same day or maybe after 1 day, depending on the extension of the surgery.
Side effects:
pain, swelling, discomfort, numbing and drying of the breast skin. Scars improve appearance but are permanent.
Risks:
abnormal or inadequate scarring, infection, hematoma, skin necrosis (more in smokers and secondary surgeries). Asymmetries, permanent change of nipple or breast skin sensitivity.
Recovery:
return to work in 1 to 2 weeks.
Physical activities (sports):
2 months.
Driving:
2 weeks.
Improvement on scars appearance:
from 3rd month, changes until to 2 years.
Results:
variable duration depending on the gravity, aging, pregnancy and weight changes.
